Mod development for Dragon Age: Veiled Keeper has been relatively quiet so far, unless you’ve been in the market for something to make the game look darker or save some character creation time. However, it now appears that this is starting to change, with many new mods using new tools to help them do more.
If you visit the game’s Nexus Mods page today, you’ll notice that a number of titles have begun to appear using an alpha version of the “Frosty Mod Manager,” which appears to be an early toolset being developed by a group of modders. The FrostyToolsuite Discord server has been integrated to facilitate more in-depth modifications to Veilguard.

So far, the tool looks to be mainly used for things like switching textures in games, with early examples of work using it including Modder LexTypeC swapping fonts for Dragon Age Origins, Izzli doing some editing on clothing, and sajere1 using it to change Dart Flynn’s party menu image to stop him from screaming.
That said, it also seems useful for removing some of the traditional restrictions the game places on players, with modder Tellah9 already getting rid of specialization restrictions per class, and Yeulia making it easy to maximize your faction reps.
Padme4000 also uses this tool to eliminate the little noise the conversation wheel makes because you desperately searched for something today and then inevitably made the disgusting choice.
Now, there’s a snag in all of this – using the Frosty Mod Manager appears to require you to enter the game’s encryption key. This is a very dangerous proposition from a modding perspective, as the developers of the manager could get into legal trouble if they were caught distributing something that might allow people to bypass EA/BioWare’s software encryption, which seems to be the case Why does the Manager’s GitHub page and the large number of comments on these new mods prevent people from directly asking the modder for the required keys.
So, it’s worth noting that, as with all mods, you use this tool at your own risk. If you want to stay safe, it’s definitely worth waiting to see if the Veilguard modders develop a tool that doesn’t rely on this kind of stuff. There’s no guarantee this will happen, but we’ve seen it happen recently with tools like the Unlock Features in Baldur’s Gate 3 mod kit.
