Deadlands shows: Elder Scrolls Online has to rethink
The good news is: Even if you skip the expansion, you will get a lot of new content and features with Update 32, which was released at the same time. We have the most important changes and the complete patch notes for you in the overview.
What about the consoles? In case you’re wondering, the PC version of ESO is earlier with the update. On PlayStation and Xbox you still need patience until November 16, 2021.
What will change with patch 32?
Arsenal system changed: You can now switch between compositions more easily, so to speak, exchange your setup for a character, including attributes, items and skills. For this you need an arsenal table, which you can find free of charge in the Kronenshop. Each of your characters has two arsenal slots.
Easier to complete item sets: Less frustration when completing item sets. That promises a change in the drop chances. From now on, enemies are more likely to drop set items that you don’t already own. Chests in dungeons remain unaffected.
DLSS and DLAA: With the update ESO gets support for the modern Nvidia features – as the first game ever »Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing«. In order to use this, you need a compatible graphics card, of course. Here we explain to you how exactly the anti-aliasing works via AI.
Editor Geraldine explains in her column why the Elder Scrolls games should finally dare to venture into the most interesting area of the fantasy world:

The most exciting place is ignored by Elder Scrolls
Below you will find the patch notes for the free update 32. The ones for the expansion Deadlands then follow on page 2 of the message.
Patch Notes for Update 32
BASIC GAME
The arsenal system
With the Arsenal, a new system awaits you that will relieve you of some of the problems that can arise when quickly switching or experimenting with your character compositions! With the arsenal you can save your own character compositions. This includes your equipment, attributes, skills, champion points, and even whether you are a werewolf or a vampire. You can then switch between these saved compilations effortlessly and without delays.
- The arsenal is available to all players for free. To get started, simply pick up the free arsenal table in the Crown Store and place it in one of your homes.
- You can also buy Ghrasharog, the Arsenal Assistant, in the Crown Shop so that you can use all of the Arsenal’s functions away from your home.
- Please note that you cannot save or load compilations without interacting with an arsenal table or the assistant.
Curated chance of item sets
Leaders and chests of arenas and dungeons now give you preferential set items that you have not yet unlocked in your item set collection!
- Most of the leaders in the game and with them reward chests from arenas and advances will now give you preferential set items that you have not yet unlocked in your item set collection. You will still only receive the parts of a set from these sources that can normally be found there; this does not change how you get certain parts of a set, but it will be much easier for you to find the parts that are still missing.
- Set items from treasure chests, containers or as random loot from regular opponents are not affected by this.
Summary for the item set collection
To complement the new curated opportunities, we’ve given the item set collection a summary page. Here you can immediately see your overall progress in collecting all the set items that can be found in the game. Each superordinate category has its own progress bar so that you can search for the set items that you are still missing.
New mythical items
Update 32 includes three new mythical items that you can track down through the antiquities system. Please note that you must have the Greymoor chapter in order to excavate antiques.
- Markyn ring of majesty
- 1 – Grants you 100 magic and weapon power and 1,157 armor for each set of which you wear at least 3 pieces.
- Developer Comment: The effect of this set applies to any item set of up to 3 or 5 items of which you are carrying at least 3 pieces. For example, if you wear 3 pieces of agility, this counts as a 3-piece bonus for the wearer. If you wear 3 pieces of Hunding’s Wrath, this counts as an additional bonus. The same applies if you were to carry 5 items from Hunding’s Wrath.
- Belharzas Band
- 1 – Increases the damage of your light attacks by 900. If you deal damage with successive light attacks, you gain one of up to 5 stacks of Belharza’s Mind for 10 seconds. If you reach 5 accumulations, use up all accumulations and after 1 second inflict physical damage to all enemies in a line for each accumulation. If 5 stacks are used, they will be stunned for an additional 3 seconds. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds and scales with your magic or weapon power, whichever is higher.
- Shoulder ligaments of doom
- 1 – When you begin to sneak, this grants you or removes a 12-meter aura of pride. Up to 6 allies in it receive 260 magic and weapon power. Your own magic and weapon power are reduced by 70 for each affected group member.
- Developer Comment: When you bend over, it activates or deactivates the aura of pride. If you get up again, nothing will change here. So you don’t have to stoop to use the aura.
Map updates
With Update 32, both active Dark Anchors and Sky Shards will be highlighted on your map!
- Active Dark Anchors will now appear highlighted on the map of your active area, similar to Mournstorms and Fissure Geysers.
- Sky shards now appear on both your map and your compass when you approach them, as you already know from shrines and craft tables.
- In addition, the area guide now leads you to the next uncollected sky shard if you have completed all other objectives in the area.
New homes
Two new homes are available for testing in the Crown Shop:
- Ossa Accentium: This luxuriant property, with its view framed by one of the otherworldly skeletons of Ferngrab, was once the home of an eccentric dealer and collector. Now it also offers easy access to all the amenities and exotic goods the city has to offer.
- Rise of Agony: Whispered warnings about the dominant peaks convince the cautious to avoid this place for fear of torture … or worse … Those who are brave, however, may appreciate the imperturbable tower and the commanding view that make up this impressive fortress in the realm of oblivion.
Combat music settings
In the audio settings you will now find a new option for music in combat. Here you can choose whether you always want to hear battle music, only against leaders or not at all.
New PvP promotion
Siege stamping action can be obtained by combining Proof of the Arena Agladiator with Revenge of the Arena Agladiator, which you can purchase from war researchers in Cyrodiil.
Support for Nvidia DLSS and DLAA
With Update 32 we are introducing support for Nvidia DLSS 2.2 (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and Nvidia DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing). If you play ESO with a DLSS compatible graphics card from Nvidia and suitable drivers, you will find new anti-aliasing options in the video settings.
- Select “Nvidia DLSS” and you can choose your preferred mode below.
- Select “Nvidia DLAA” and you can use Nvidia’s high-quality, deep-learning-based anti-aliasing at full resolution without upscaling.
- Due to the many possible settings for ESO, it may well be that you get only a minimal or no noticeable performance gain from DLSS, especially if ESO is slowed down more by your CPU. You will most likely feel a gain at higher resolutions, for example 4K, with activated display in a separate thread and with settings that demand the GPU, for example SSGI.
- Similarly, you shouldn’t hope for any performance improvements from Nvidia DLAA, as this option is only used as a higher quality anti-aliasing option.
You can find a full list of all bug fixes in the official ESO forum.
