Nostalgia alert for PS1 owners: This game that may have shaped your childhood is literally coming back from the dead with an unexpected announcement.
We could even say that it is a double resurrection: on the one hand for this legendary PS1 game and on the other hand for a studio that we thought had disappeared for about twenty years. So with willpower, it seems that anything is possible, even for this good old mascot of Sony’s first legendary console.
The unexpected return of a groundbreaking PS1 game has been announced
This announcement, bordering on necromancy, comes from Argonaut Games, the British studio to which we owe above all the legendary Star Fox, released on SNES and powered by its then revolutionary technology: SNES FX. The studio then lost all its employees in 2004, and many moved to Rocksteady, another now famous British studio, to develop the Batman Arkham games. But now he returns 20 years later with an unexpected announcement: an HD remaster of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, expected later this year on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series!
Released in 1997 on PS1 and Sega Saturn, Croc was a 3D platform game that was a huge success on these two platforms, even having a sequel and then a Gameboy Color version. The remaster developed by Argonaut Games therefore aims to bring this PS1 mascot back into the spotlight with improved graphics, more modern controls and a digital museum called Crocipedia to pay tribute to this license from our childhood and to include lost assets from the latter, such as game design documents, concept art or even interviews. You can see what it looks like in the announcement trailer below.
