In addition to the great Xenoblade Chronicles, Pokémon or Kirby, the Nintendo console has offered us a whole range of games this year 2022. In this list, we offer you games that you may have missed but are still among the best rated on Nintendo Switch (Metacritic) this year.

13 Guardians: Aegis Rim

It’s without too much ado that this much-loved visual novel has landed on the Nintendo console this year. And yet, For fans of the genre, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is a real reference. He’s one of those nuggets that the most determined were trying to acquire even before his arrival in France in September 2020. But even then, the Vanillaware title was relatively under the radar. With its skilful mix of visual novel and tactical role-playing game, paired with a gripping story and particularly successful optics, it fully deserves it very good sound 16 out of 20 with us. This year saw an opportunity to open up to a wider audience with a successful port to Nintendo Switch. Fluid, beautiful and enjoyable, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim loses none of its superlatives on the Nintendo console.

Beacon Pines

It continues in the narrative game Beacon Pines, a very cute fairytale title. The latter literally immerses you in a book, letting you turn the pages (forward and backward) over the selected branches. So you can discover the adventures of Luca, a young orphan who faces a great mystery. Don’t let the enchanting atmosphere of Beacon Pines fool you! This town (and this game) hides a dark secret, and terrible things may await you in the next chapter. As I’m sure you understood, the appearances in Beacon Pines are not what they appear to be. Far from being a game Bambiit rather approaches the atmosphere of a stranger things. No test for this game by us, but still an excellent feeling after a good hour spent with the game i.e.

Endling: Extinction is forever

Looking for a quick game to enjoy? How do you pass the time when Christmas dinner or another family gathering is dragging on a little too long? That’s good because it only takes you four hours to complete the following title. But despite its short lifespan, Endling: Extinction is forever offers you an unforgettable experience. A true ecological drama, this survival game puts us in the shoes of a mother fox who must do whatever it takes to keep her cubs alive in a world ravaged by men. On the trail of her lost fox, she also hopes to find a natural haven of calm untouched by fire and deforestation. But for that you still have to survive until the next day by finding food and avoiding the dangerous predators that roam the remains of the forest while keeping an eye on the day-night cycle. As with Beacon Pines you can find our feelings here.

islet

Lack of modern Metroidvania? Are you looking forward to Hollow Knight Silksong? Granted, Islet doesn’t reach the heights of the Team Cherry license, but it remains a devilishly effective game nonetheless. Don’t be fooled by its childish artistic direction, Islet is not for everyone. It is indeed a challenging title and full of imperceptible humor for the youngest. Story-wise, you play as Iko, a warrior in the making who must toughen himself up to become the hero he dreams of. But it is not with his wrecked ship and lack of experience that he will be able to reunite the islands and restore balance to this world. Luckily, he can count on all the colorful characters that cross his path to help him progress and become the hero everyone has been waiting for. Also here you can find our feelings here.

mini highways

After mobile and PC, Mini Motorways has finally arrived on Nintendo Switch this year. This management and strategy game with an atypical artistic direction is clearly a must-have of the genre. The intuitive and addictive Dinosaur Polo Club game invites you to build the road network of a growing city. That said, nothing exciting. But that’s without considering the highly dynamic aspects of cities, which are constantly growing and forcing you to keep rethinking your freeways and other roundabouts. In the end, the stakes are high: avoid tiring traffic jams at all costs and make your city a pleasant place to traverse. Whether you want to relax while playing or challenge yourself, Mini Motorways is the game you need thanks to these different modes (Endless, Expert, etc.). Add to that the many challenges, maps inspired by existing cities, and engaging soundtrack, and you’ve got a neat little experience.

neon white

It was the indie reference of Daylight Saving Time, so it’s only natural that it deserves its spot on this list. Neon White has indeed convinced with its hybrid concept. It is indeed a particularly dynamic action game that mixes FPS and card game. As White, an assassin straight from the underworld, you must defeat demon slayers to secure your place in paradise. Your weapons evolve according to your cards. Therefore, in order to defeat your enemies, you must offer the best possible combination. But behind this charged concept lies an intensely mysterious story presented to us through a visual novel aspect that is pleasing to the eye. Something that will keep you playing for a good ten hours. This time we tell you about it via our Wanted format. to find him Here it happens.

OlliOlli world

skateboard games, don’t you know? Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Skate… But have you heard of the OlliOlli License? If this is not the case, it’s a pity, since Roll7 and Private Division’s proposal stands out for its originality, thanks in particular to its third work released this year. With a cartoon style, OlliOlli World invites you to become the best driver and reach the Gnarvana in a title between action and platform. Many surprises await you in Radlandia, from colorful landscapes to colorful characters, through tricks crazier than the rest. Whether you’re a skate fan or not, OlliOlli World really has something that draws you into its atypical world, whether thanks to its exciting gameplay or its more accessible side than the previous works. A revised formula, therefore, that has seduced us since it was obtained score 16 out of 20.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

Cowabunga the ninja turtles join us in a lovelier than ever beat ’em up, evocatively named Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. And we can thank Tribute Games and Dotemu for this little gift. It is not surprising that the French publisher is involved in such a project. Back in 2020, he brought us an excellent old-fashioned beat’em up with Streets of Rage 4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge continues this dynamic by offering us a very nice tribute to the ninja turtle games. The goal, of course, is to take the mechanics of yesteryear while adding an ounce of modernity, all against the backdrop of a Machiavellian plan signed by Shredder to foil it. Bet successful again as the game was applauded by critics, especially received 16 out of 20 with us.

tinykin

You probably know the principle behind Pikmin: cute little creatures that help you progress throughout the game. The French studio Splashteam has taken this principle to bring us Tinykin, a real little nugget. Enjoyable from start to finish, easy to learn and with an engaging artistic direction, this little game is sure to give you a great time. A little insight into history? Well, Tinykin puts you in the skin of Milo, a being from another planet who arrives on Earth the size of a midget. In order to regain his normal size, he must find a way to return home. Through the various rooms of the house, you must therefore help the insects that inhabit them in order to be able to salvage artifacts and repair your ship. For this you can count on different types of Tinykins. Everything happens with joy and good humor, in the heart of a universe full of humor. Unsurprisingly, the game won very good 17 out of 20 with us.

Yomawari: Lost in the Dark

We close with a much appreciated insider license: Yomawari. In 2015, this terrifying saga began in a world that looked very cute with Yomawari: Night Alone. A prequel is quickly in development and arrives with the first game on Nintendo Switch thanks to the Yomawari: The Long Night Collection. The plot is simple: in the shoes of a little girl, you must go in search of your big sister and your dog through a dark village invaded by monsters ready to devour you. In addition to its terrifying aspect, the title offered us a moving story that was critically acclaimed. The studio therefore decided to bring back the cover art this year with Yomawari: Lost in the Dark. We always play a little girl who wakes up in a forest this time without knowing how she got there. She quickly learns that she has been cursed and that she must find a way to break this curse. But of course that won’t be easy, especially since ghosts lurk in the night and can attack him at any time.
