game news The 5 most important expectations ahead of the Ubisoft Forward conference, but that’s not all…
The summer conference season started a few days ago. On the agenda: Summer Game Fest, Xbox Games Showcase, Ubisoft Forward… And today we wonder what Ubisoft has in store for us with its conference. Assassin’s Creed, Avatar, Star Wars, The Crew… What can we expect?
Concrete for Assassin’s Creed?
If you’ve been following Ubisoft’s news a bit, you probably know that the French giant has decided to bet a lot on its flagship Assassin’s Creed license. In fact, a reorganization is planned to give more human resources to the various planned AC games. It must be said that there is work, and not just a little bit. Remember that in the last Ubisoft Forward an entire section was dedicated to Assassin’s Creed. The latter had increased the counter of AC games in development to 6. Almost a year later it would be time to show us some gameplay or clarify certain aspects.
Unsurprisingly, Ubisoft has already announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be included. The title announced its release date during the last PlayStation Showcase and will therefore be released within a few months. But for now there is no gameplay presentation yet. This Ubisoft Forward is therefore the perfect opportunity to present the title in more detail, intended as a return to the sources of the license to make players want to crack it. We also know that Assassin’s Creed Jade, the AAA mobile game, and Assassin’s Creed Nexus, the VR sequel, will be present, possibly with gameplay and a release date.
The rest is more complicated. Assassin’s Creed has so many projects up its sleeve that it’s hard to tell if more will come as a surprise. Here’s hoping (without really believing it) for an actual trailer for Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, and maybe even a year or a release window. It’s also a good time to introduce us to the mobile game developed with Netflix or give information about the live-action series that was also produced in collaboration with Netflix. And what about the mysterious Assassin’s Creed codename Hexe or the obscure Infinity? As I’m sure you understood, Ubisoft is spoiled for choice and we can’t wait to see what’s on display. ”’
Star Wars, The Crew… Less likely
But at Ubisoft it’s not just Assassin’s Creed, on the contrary! The “solid line-up” promised by Ubisoft should also include other titles. Especially if you look at the forecasts for the coming financial year, the big releases are likely to be pushed together until March 31, 2024. Eight… That’s the number of games to be released by then. The list includes Assassin’s Mirage (which we’ve already covered), Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, The Crew Motorfest, Rainbow Six Mobile, Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence, XDefiant, and a big unannounced game. Two games have been confirmed to exist in this list: the game set in the universe of Avatar and The Crew Motorfest. The conference trailer (available at the top of this article) also cause a surprise
But that’s not all ! Ubisoft is currently collaborating with Massive Entertainment (Tom Clancy’s The Division) to offer us an ambitious open-world Star Wars game. And since the developers claimed on Twitter that the year 202 “Would be great for her”, we can logically count on a presentation of the title during the Ubisoft Forward, if only to have more information and (finally) pictures. Another serious contender for this Ubisoft Forward: the Rayman DLC from Mario + The Rabbids Sparks of Hope. According to the game’s roadmap, the latter should be released in late 2023. So it seems logical that it should come out on top. Likewise, it is very likely that there will be a release date for the second DLC, which will be announced sometime in 2023.
Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell… Uncertainty
Ubisoft also has a number of very uncertain projects. Times aren’t necessarily easy for the studio as it has also had to make the decision to cancel many games. This is particularly the case with Ghost Recon Frontline and the Splinter Cell VR game. But fans know it: The Splinter Cell license isn’t dead. A remake is actually in the works. If the project is far from over from the outset, it’s not out of the question that Ubisoft will draw a small trailer to revive the hype. On the other hand, in terms of remakes, it’s unlikely that we’ll see that of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The game has just been rebooted (again) and entrusted to a new studio, namely Ubisoft Montreal.
Equally complicated is telling if Beyond Good & Evil 2 will emerge from Hell and finally reveal itself. As I’m sure you know, the title is going through a particularly complicated development. And sadly, it’s not the only thing… Recently, we’re entitled to receive some somber information about the development of Just Dance 2023. If we could expect news about the season pass a priori, Ubisoft might as well decide to play him little profile in the game. Suddenly we cannot rule out the presence of other Ubisoft IPs such as Roller Champions, Watch Dogs, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Far Cry or even ANNO. As I’m sure you understood, there are a number of uncertainties surrounding Ubisoft’s lineup.
