A few weeks after its release, Deadpool and Wolverine has become the most anticipated film of the year. The return of the Merc with a Mouth alongside Hugh Jackman promises to be truly crazy, but none of this would have happened without Shawn Levy.
In an interview with the American media Deadlinethe filmmaker revealed that, after collaborating with Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy, the actor told him that he would not participate in a film starring the Merc with a Mouth if he was not involved as a director.
“It was several years before I met Ryan, but the first time we met to talk about Free Guy, it was clear that we’d both had successful careers, but that we were at the right time. We’re old enough to recognize something It was really good when we stumbled on it and didn’t let go. And Free Guy led to The Adam Project. It was on the set of Adam Project that Ryan told me he only wanted to do Deadpool 3 if I directed it. “I know, I know, you’re going to say no.” And I told him: ‘I’m not going to say no. I’m definitely going to say yes.'”
Levy did not hesitate to confirm his participation in the third film of Deadpoola decision he made long before Hugh Jackman joined the production to reprise Wolverine and before Disney absorbed the Fox universe.
The American director seems to be the ideal choice for future Marvel projects, but his affection for Deadpool it’s undeniable. So much so that one of his big dreams is to make a film that brings together the Merc with a Mouth and Spider-Man, a combination that would surely be a success at the box office.
