Burnout Paradise Remastered was able to convince old and new arcade racing fans.

Before they took over Need for Speed, Criterion Games was once primarily known for the Burnout series. The latter arcade racing series has now been dormant for quite a while, while the former is constantly producing new offshoots – with mixed success.

But there is also a bit more life in Burnout than some people might think: With Burnout Paradise Remastered, the developers from Stellar Entertainment released a new edition at least in 2018, which was very well received.

And now the same people are teasing a completely new part of burnout with a post on X, formerly Twitter. We’ll shed light on what could be hidden behind it for you.

A post that raises hopes

With a wink, the post immediately states that they don’t actually want to announce anything with it. But there’s obviously more behind it.

No Takedowns through the executive floor: What sounds like fear of a possible shutdown of the project is actually a clever play on words. Burnout fans at least know what takedowns traditionally involve in their world – the elimination of other vehicles through provoked collisions.

Another remaster? Theoretically, of course, that could also be the case Takedown named offshoots of the Burnout series. That speaks for another remaster or even a remake. However, this seems rather unlikely due to the following formulation:

AAA in Unreal Engine 5: Stellar Entertainment’s website indicates that they are working on a AAA arcade racing title that relies on the Unreal Engine 5 as the graphics engine. It should also shake up the genre when it is released. We don’t trust a remake to shake up the genre like this, even within a PR phrase.

For what, however You’re about to be rear-ended stands, must remain open here. Maybe you have ideas about what’s behind it. It probably has something to do with the name of the new racing game.

What else speaks for a new burnout? The staff at Stellar Entertainment has established ties to the Burnout series: Paul Ross, the studio’s CEO and founderwas employed at Criterion for years and played a key role in Burnout.

Now it’s your turn, turn off the ignition for a moment and let us know what you think! What do you think about Stellar Entertainment’s post? Is this just a remake or a really new part of the Burnout series? What would you specifically want? Feel free to write us your thoughts and opinions in the comments!
