For years, fans of Nier Automata puzzled what that last big secret of the game that has remained open since the beginning of 2018 (we reported). Lance McDonald has now found it. His find was also made by the official Japanese Twitter channel of the game confirmed.
“It looks like the last secret has been discovered. Be careful on social media if you haven’t played the game yet, as it contains spoilers.”
Even Yoko Taro, Director of Nier Automata, took this event as an opportunity to post a tweet. In it, he briefly mentions the time it took to discover the secret: 3 years and 10 months. The English-language Twitter channel congratulates the finder with a short post.

What was hiding for almost 4 years?
All this time, players were deprived of an opportunity to skip the entire game. This is not an exploit or the like, but a cheat that is permanently integrated into the game.
This allows you to skip the entire game after the first boss fight and see the end, which also unlocks all bonus game modes.
Exact instructions on how to unlock the cheat are not yet available. McDonald has already announced that it will soon publish a video with all the necessary steps. Until then, he will show his find with a short teaser video.

You can activate the secret in the arena after the fight against the first boss. As the video shows, you have to make a specific sequence of inputs at a certain point. Then Nier Automata asks you if you want to tell other players something.
How was the secret discovered? With such complicated secrets, the question arises of how to find such a specific action. McDonald delivers the answer to that and explains that he spent hundreds of hours reverse engineering.
What’s next for Nier?
Another part of Nier has already been announced. More precisely, it is a remake of the Automata predecessor Replicant from 2010.
