The Alter: Release of the sci-fi survival game postponed

Next please! The sci-fi survival game The Alter from 11 bit Studios is also no longer coming out this year. The release has been noticeably postponed.

Most recently, Assassin’s Creed Shadows from Ubisoft, a very prominent title and potential blockbuster was postponed from November 2024 to the coming year 2025 – and now the next title has joined it, which suffers the same fate. What is meant in this case is the sci-fi survival game The Alter from 11 bit Studios, which will no longer be available in November – as previously planned.

The targeted release in November 2024 has now been noticeably postponed to the coming year 2025. In contrast to Ubisoft, 11 bit Studios has not yet given a specific new date, but is now planning The Alter for the first quarter of 2025. How extensive the shift will ultimately be remains to be seen.

“The production schedule for The Alter was very tight,” Przemyslaw Marszal, president of 11 bit Studios, said in a statement about the postponement. “There was therefore an uncertainty as to whether the developers would have enough time to complete the work to the quality we all expect. After so many years in development, it was unnecessary for us to take the risk that the game could have any defects.”

The Alter also has prominent competition in the first quarter of 2025, as other heavyweights such as Civilization VII, Assasin’s Creed Shadows and Monster Hunter Wilds appear during this period.

The Alter is planned for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. The title also appears on Xbox Game Pass.

A survival game where you can only survive by creating alternate versions of yourself? Sounds bizarre and is extremely promising. The new trailer tells you more about the game and its main character, Jan Dolski.
