It does feature a solid look at gameplay, though. The Alters is a game with a unique mechanic that allows you to manipulate the past to create alternate versions of yourself, explore different paths, and essentially answer all your “what if” questions. question.
“Changers” takes place on a hostile planet, where the protagonist Jan Dorsky crashes, only to discover a substance called “Rapidium” and, with the help of a computer in the base where he has taken refuge, This substance allows him to redirect previous events which allows him to create alternate versions of himself – hence the name.
Dorsky’s ultimate goal is to escape Earth, but since the advanced base he discovers requires an entire team of scientists to operate, he’s going to have to do a lot of manipulation into his past to create enough Alters to complete the task. The problem, of course, is that the Alters are sentient, and they each have their own personalities and emotions – so they’re not exactly besties from Palworld.
The footage above was taken on a PC running an AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro CPU and a Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU (pretty much AMD’s top-tier offering). It’s refreshing to see this revealed, as it’s rarely – if ever – the kind of information mentioned in the game’s trailers.
Alters is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
