Do you remember Wild? It was during Gamescom 2014 when Wild Sheep Studio revealed the existence of its ambitious IP, which had a director of the calibre of Michel Ancel. Sony was in charge of supporting the publication of the game, which was planned for Exclusive release for PS4but that moment never came.
Now, 10 years later and with Ancel retired from the industry since 2020, we have been able to learn what seemed inevitable. It was from Steven ter Heide, creative director of the studio, that we were able to find out that the video game is no longer currently in development.
Unfortunately, all we can say is that we are no longer actively working on it.
So it seems we are talking about the End of the road for Wild after 10 yearswhich excited many by trying to offer a very particular context. The video game would offer a context of the Neolithic during prehistory with an open world that would be generated procedurally. The human that we would control could ride animals to cover great distances, use others to spy or even to fight with other tribes.
This ability to control the animal kingdom would be born thanks to a series of shamanic powers, but it is now water under the bridge. The images and previews that were shown at the time were very promising, although delays have been the general trend. Now, Wild Sheep Studio has 16 people under its belt and is focused on giving Supporting a supplier in a virtual reality project for another study.
