After years without news about their favorite license, Gears of War fans are in danger of being spoiled at the Xbox Showcase. And they obviously wouldn’t be the only ones.
Microsoft’s next speech is particularly anticipated at the turn of the year. The gaming industry is not in the best shape and the company is looking for solutions internally to stay on course. This would mean a possible increase in the prices of the Xbox Game Pass, but also a strengthened multiplatform strategy. The big boss of the Redmond company would definitely like to see more ports for PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The next Xbox Showcase announcements should further outline the future of the brand, but gamers can already look forward to two explosive announcements.
The imminent return of Gears 6 and Doom?
The next Xbox Series games will be revealed in a few days. This Sunday, June 9, at 7:00 p.m., the Redmond company will highlight future product news in its catalog. We can of course expect to see the company’s next big modules there, such as Indiana Jones & the Ancient Circle, Avowed or even STALKER 2. However, Xbox would take the opportunity to present new games that have not yet been announced. According to The Verge’s sources, two particularly popular licenses would be making a comeback for the occasion.
In a newsletter reserved for subscribers, the well-informed Tom Warren explains that the next Doom and Gears of War would be presented during this Xbox Showcase, with a big difference between the two. The game, called DOOM The Dark Ages, would be part of the famous Xbox Project Latitude, which aims to bring more games and licenses to rival consoles, a movement recently launched with the release of Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush on rival platforms. The infernal game would therefore be released simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series and PC in 2025, while Gears 6 would maintain its usual exclusivity, without an advanced release window. However, we shouldn’t expect gameplay for these two future announcements, but rather expect a CGI trailer for each of them.
See you this Sunday, June 9th evening to discover the two new versions of these popular licenses. The evening promises to be full of announcements, with Call of Duty Black Ops 6 taking the spotlight right after the conference.
