The Joker in Batman 2?
Actor Robert Pattinson faces Paul Dano (Edward Nashton – The Riddler), Colin Farrell (Oswald Cobblepot – The Penguin) and Zoë Kravitz (Selina Kyle – Catwoman) in The Batman. Much ink has been spilled on the noticeable lack of another iconic villain since the project was formalized. Some rumors said that the Joker would make a sensational appearance in this first part, but in reality it is not. The Dark Knight’s nemesis is actually present during a discussion between the Riddler and the latter in Arkham Asylum at the very end of the film.
The Joker does not play a central role in the plot of The Batman. His presence is reduced to a simple cameo that serves as a teaser for the next two films, which have already been confirmed by the American director and Warner Bros. Pictures. One thing is for sure, the most famous villain in the Batman universe will drive Gotham City’s prodigal son insane in The Batman 2 and/or The Batman 3 (working title). Another clue seeded by Robert Pattinson himself suggests that the infamous Court of Owls could be making life difficult for Bruce Wayne. FYI, the Court of Owls is also the main antagonist of the Gotham Knights game.
A new joker?
The ending of The Batman formalizes the Joker’s presence in the saga directed by Matt Reeves. According to the client concerned, there is no connection between this reinterpretation of the adventures of the Dark Knight and the DC-influenced cinematographic universe initiated by Zack Snyder. That statement, along with the few minutes spent with the Clown of Gotham in The Batman, confirms that this version of the Joker is new. The Jokers of the past, both those of the films (Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto) and those of the Gotham series (Cameron Monaghan), therefore remain confined to their respective universes.
No defector will interrupt the adventures of Bruce Wayne, played by Robert Pattinson. Despite this, Batman will indeed face the Prince of Crime. Rumor had it that Barry Keoghan (Green Knight, The Eternals) would be playing the Joker
This character in Arkham refers to the Joker before he was the Joker. He has not yet decided to claim this concept. But I wanted to make him into someone that Batman met in his freshman year and was jailed for being a killer. – Matt Reeves (Director) – Allocine
The Batman hits French cinemas on March 2, 2022.
