Developer WB Games Montreal stated that it has completely redesigned Arkham Knights’ combat methods to ensure that the game performs better in cooperation.
Knights of Gotham It was officially announced in August. At the official conference of DC Fandome, we saw some trailers, which let us know the expectations of the title.
We know that “Gotham Knight” did not happen in the Ark War, nor is it a game as a service. According to a new interview with GamesRadar, executive producer Fleur Marty shared more information about the game and explained-although the new name will be mechanically inherited from the Arkham game, there are some key differences in the gameplay.
“We have completely redesigned the combat system to make it work properly in cooperation,” Marty explained. “Of course, we are still brawlers. For those who have played and liked the Arkham series, some techniques will not be completely unfamiliar, but in many ways they are completely different.”
Marty went on to explain that players can switch characters more or less at will at any time, even though they have to return to the clock tower commensurate with the theme. This makes sense for games that are designed primarily around cooperatives and seem to be mostly played side by side with other players.
“Since the story process is shared between all the characters, it makes sense not to upgrade them from scratch each time you switch. As far as our narrative is concerned, it also maintains a very coherent unity.” Marty outlines.
“Because other members of the Batman family always appear behind the scenes in some way, they will not stay active when you go out to fight crime or uncover the mystery. Therefore, they are constantly improving and becoming stronger. It makes sense.”
Creative director Patrick Redding further explained the cooperative nature of the game. He said: “‘Two people’ or teamwork is the core feature of the universe, and it is abbreviated in comics, animation, movies and movies. TV version. […] Their dynamics match the fantasy and Gotham City settings. “
In the game, you can choose to play Batman, Robin, Nightwing or Red Riding Hood and take on the responsibility of protecting the city after Batman’s death. It is worth playing that the game can also be played alone.
Gotham Knights will release the game for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox series sometime in 2021.
