Since the release of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, the Quill Volley Spiritborn has established itself as the strongest build for all players who rely on long-range combat and fast, wide-area projectile attacks.
But with the new patch 2.0.3, this build has been given even more power thanks to an important bug fix. The unique Staff of Kepeleke, an essential item for this build variant, now functions as intended after a bug blocked a crucial affix.
Bug fix brings massive damage boost
The Staff of Kepeleke offers an affix that has a chance of 26 to 35 percent granted that core skills – which are also included Stachelsalve (Quill Volley) heard – hit twice. However, before the patch, this effect was bugged and did not work as intended. This meant that this valuable damage bonus was missing.
With Patch 2.0.3 the bug has finally been fixed, Stachselsalve can now hit twice and you can now exploit the full potential of the staff.
Let’s take the average value of 30 percent as an example: If 30 percent of attacks hit twice and deal double damage, that means the total damage increases by 30 percent.
While the Quill Volley build has now become even stronger, the fast Evade Spiritborn has had its wings clipped with patch 2.0.3. We’ll show you how much speed the build has lost in the comparison video:

Evade Spiritborn in Diablo 4: We’ll show you how badly the fastest build was nerfed
How does the build work?
Der Quill Volley Spiritborn Build was already considered the strongest meta build before patch 2.0.3. Spike Volley, the build’s main ability, fires multiple projectiles that fan out.
This “shotgun” effect ensures that you can effectively fight both individual targets and larger groups of enemies.
