Hardly anyone can afford all the streaming services these days, but which provider gives you the most bang for your buck? A study has now decoded this.
The question of the best streaming service is often asked, as the number of providers increases every year. But there can’t be a concrete answer here, because your own taste naturally plays a decisive role in the decision.
What’s the point of having the largest possible range of films and series or a very low price if you almost never like the productions on offer? Ultimately, only you can decide what you like and what you want to pay for. But we can at least tell you which streaming service is in which category according to a current study by Self
Many providers with different strengths
The study is based, on the one hand, on the IMDb ratings of the films and series on offer, but also on the size of the offer and the prices. These are the values from the USA, so the specific numbers do not necessarily correspond to Germany.
Apple TV+ offers you the best films and series from all the streaming services tested. True to the motto “quality over quantity”, Apple’s streaming service offers you by far the smallest offering, but subscribers here are particularly satisfied with the content on offer for the third year in a row.
Amazon Prime Video, however, offers the largest selection of films. Not every title is popular here, but thanks to the large selection, Prime Video still offers you the best price-performance ratio. Incidentally, annoyances such as commercial breaks in the stream did not play a role in this evaluation. Since the last study in 2022, Prime Video has increased its offering by 639 percent.

When it comes to series alone, Netflix is ahead. Netflix also offers the largest selection of 4K content, with Disney+ offering the most popular 4K titles. Contrary to expectations, you won’t find the best programs for children on Disney+, but on Apple TV+, although the selection here is again very small.
If you would like to get to know Apple TV+ but don’t want to pay 9.99 dollars for the relatively small offer, we have a tempting suggestion: just try Apple TV+ for free for three months!
