It was one of the most popular episodes of the saga and could return transformed in a few years. Ubisoft is reportedly preparing a major project surrounding Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag and an employee provides a new clue.
The Assassin’s Creed license still has a bright future ahead of it. While AC Mirage wasn’t the return to basics some were hoping for, it still managed to provide early fans with a good dose of nostalgia. The large open world and the transition to action RPG returns with a vengeance with Assassin’s Creed Red, the episode set in feudal Japan. A company official had stated that the game, which has been wanted for many years, would be released this year, but Ubisoft has not confirmed anything. The French publisher will then release AC Hexe, a much more mysterious title that will immerse us in the heart of the witch hunt era. Amidst all these official announcements, one rumor has been making waves: the return of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag in the form of a remake. Guess who’s making headlines again today?
This is confirmed even more for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake
AC Mirage has now been released and Ubisoft is currently working on six games under the license. Eight, even if we count the projects that still require internal validation. Ubisoft intends to surf on its most productive license and bring everyone to an agreement. And to undoubtedly ensure that the development of Skull & Bones was not in vain, the French publisher is preparing the return of one of the most popular episodes. Last summer, Kotaku, then Insider Gaming, announced that a certain Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake had been validated. Today everything seems to confirm that development has actually begun.
The LinkedIn bio of a senior film designer at Ubisoft Singapore mentions that work on an “unannounced game” began in September 2023, two months after the publisher would have greenlit Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. According to sources from both media outlets, the project will largely be entrusted to this studio. His work on Skull & Bones would then be used to modernize naval combat and water navigation. It’s impossible to say at this point what gameplay changes are planned to modernize the experience. Will it be closer to the hybrid proposed by AC Mirage or will it be openly based on the formula initiated by Origins? We’re not ready to find out yet, but work on the cutscenes has already begun. We will therefore have to wait a few more years before returning to sail the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean.
