Departure to new worlds! Anno 1800 will be the first part of the main series that will also be released for the current consoles. That much was already known. Now the development team at Ubisoft Mainz has revealed all the details about this new version and also announced a release date. So the most important things to start with:
Anno 1800 will be released on March 16, 2023 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S!
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s give you even more information on what’s actually – and what’s not – in this new version of Anno.
This is how Anno 1800 works on consoles
Incidentally, Anno 1800 for the consoles is being developed by the same team that produced the PC version more than four years ago. So no external studio was commissioned, as is sometimes done. Specifically, the console version of the construction masterpiece offers everything you know from the PC. So no content has been deleted. You still build houses, chains of goods and level up your population. And does what feels like 35,000 other things at the same time. How to get to know your wife better.
In order for this to work well with a controller, the interface was primarily adapted. The following changes should enable the game with the gamepad:
- The build menu is a radial menu. So you press a shoulder button, and then you could use an analog stick to choose which building you want to place.
- Some elements of the HUD have been moved to other areas. For example, you can see all of your resources at the top right.
- The region map has been enlarged, which should speed up jumping between islands.
- Streets can now automatically span building blocks.

Does Anno 1800 work on PS5 and Xbox Series? The trailer says – yes!
In addition, the console version will of course include all free updates that have ever been released for Anno 1800. This includes helpful tools like the stats screen, but also nice additions like the day and night cycle and a co-op mode for online games. By the way, there is no crossplay with the PC.
An overview of all updates can be found here:

These versions are sold
You can already pre-order Anno 1800 for the consoles and have the choice of two different versions.
- The standard version: Here you can get the normal Anno 1800 with all updates for 40 dollars.
- Die Deluxe-Version: If you pay 10 dollars more, you get three cosmetic packages in addition to the main game: the pedestrian zone, the fair package and busy cities.
If you pre-order Anno 1800 on console, you’ll also get the Imperial and Founder’s Packs as a free incentive. Here are cosmetic skins for your ships, portraits and some pretty ornaments. There is also a digital art book and the soundtrack.
In addition, you can voluntarily buy all cosmetic DLC. There’s a whole lot of that now. We will also tell you which ones are worthwhile:

Something is missing
From this point of view you get almost everything that is also available on the PC. With one big exception: there will be none of the four season passes for the consoles at the time of release. There are twelve extremely worthwhile extensions in there. These DLCs will probably be submitted at a later date.
