The Nintendo 64 era left us with a few very interesting games starring Mario, Super Mario 64 being the best of all, although it must also be recognized that another of the most essential games in the catalog was the mythical Paper Mario, the first installment of this series that has given us so much joy since then and that has gone through most Nintendo platforms since then.
In the event that you have never given it a chance, thanks to Nintendo Switch Online you will be able to enjoy this adventure starring paper Mario, which will allow you to take a look at one of the greatest curiosities that has always been present in this fantastic title. Specifically it is about a tribute that the big N wanted to pay to one of the best cartoon series
Mario has to face off against enemies of all kinds throughout the game, including los Koopa Bros., a group of final bosses that appear in the first chapter. If you pay attention to the clothes they are wearing, you will see that they are not just ordinary Koopas, since they are dressed as ninjas, something that is justified because this quartet is inspired by the Ninja Turtles
There are four of them, they are ninjas, they are turtles and each one differs from the others by the color of their clothing. Come on, white and in the bottle, although yes, the names have nothing to do with it, since these are called Green Ninjakoopa, Black Ninjakoopa, Yellow Ninjakoopa and Red Ninjakoopa, the latter being the leader of the band.
Instead, in the German translation they wanted to take this homage even further. More than anything because the Ninja Turtles had names based on Italian painters, so the same example was followed with the Koopa Bros., but in this case with food. That is why each of these enemies had Italian names that were chosen as follows:
- Pomodoro – Tomato (Ninjakoopa Red)
- Melanzano – Eggplant (Ninjakoopa Black)
- Cintronello – Lemongrass (Yellow Ninjakoopa)
- Asparagus – asparagus (Green Ninjakoopa)
