No microtransactions

While the most loyal fans have been waiting for the game since its announcement during the Games Awards 2021, some information about Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 is now revealed to us

the next work in the cult franchise. After developer Sabre Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment recently announced a new cooperative mode recently revealed more about the game’s business model.

The publisher was pleased to announce on his blog:

We are pleased to confirm that there will be no microtransactions in Space Marine 2. No in-game store. All gameplay content and features will be free for all players. All paid downloadable content will be cosmetic only.

In addition, Sylvain Le Roux, brand manager at Focus, clarified certain information for the PCGamesN media. He explains that possible season passes will appear in the game, but it still guarantees:

Everything that is obtained (in playthroughs) is purely cosmetic. Thus, all gameplay additions, whether new missions or new features, will be available to all players for free.

A better economic model?

This news has reason to please more than one person, especially when we know that other studios do not skimp on the economic model of microtransactions. EA, for example, deserved nothing less than 1.71 billion US dollars in the third quarter of last year, and that was just with the microtransactions included in EA Sports FC.

Future players of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 can therefore rest easy. Nothing will force them to pay thousands and cents to be competitive in online mode.

This good news will of course come at a price: $70; this is the price that players will have to pay to immerse themselves in this expected TPS. An amount that is anything but surprising by today’s standards; which however points to the studio’s habits that had accustomed us to lower prices.

Finally, the studio also confirmed the release date of 9 September 2024 stating that “the game’s content is now finalized and has been locked for some time.” It therefore seems that the studio and its teams are currently working on fixing bugs and refining the game. This is intended to give players the best possible experience when it releases in September.
