Property that enters the public domain is always a good thing, as we should always strive to divest assets from companies that want complete control over all intellectual property. The earliest version of Mickey Mouse entered the public domain earlier this year, the same day a horror game was announced that quickly caused some controversy. When Winnie the Pooh entered the public domain, we quickly got the horror adaptation Blood and Honey (probably inspired by Resident Evil 4). Now, the folks behind Blood & Honey are working on a Peter Pan horror movie and shared some preliminary details and a sneak peek at it in an interview with Bloody Disgusting.

Peter Pan Neverland director Scott Jeffrey (the film will be titled Neverland) told Bloody Disgusting that he “drew inspiration from French cinema when preparing the film. As Wendy tries to… track down her brother Michael who was kidnapped by Peter Pan. I’d say it’s a fusion between Switchblade Romance and Black Phone, with our own spin on it. It’s a A disgusting, violent and extremely dark film.”
Jeffrey also shared, “Tinkerbell is not who you think she is. In our version, she’s hooked on heroin and convinced it was pixie dust,” which honestly sounds too edgy and trying, but it doesn’t It’s not that this movie is trying to be Citizen Kane or something.
Apparently, filming on the project will begin in May of this year and will be released on Halloween 2024, so it won’t be long before we see new takes on old characters.
