The Crew 2: Series hits impressive milestone

Crew, hits, impressive, milestone, series

Although highly polished, high-tech racing games like Forza or Gran Turismo are always in focus, that doesn’t mean that other racing games aren’t successful as well. The Crew now cracked an impressive number of players.

When you talk about racing games, the big names Forza, Gran Turismo or Need for Speed almost involuntarily come up. But there are certainly successful competitors that you don’t really have on your radar. The fact that Ubisoft also has an open-world online racing game at the start with The Crew 1 and 2 is quickly forgotten.

Nevertheless, the series is apparently a huge success. As creative director Stéphane Baley revealed on Twitter, The Crew (2014) and The Crew 2 (2018) have together reached more than 40 million players across all platforms. That doesn’t mean it actually sold 40 million copies, as The Crew has been and still is a part of various subscription services, but an impressive number nonetheless.

It is unclear how much money the two titles brought in. In addition to the price of the actual game, there are plenty of optional microtransactions for in-game credits, as well as Season Passes. One or the other Taler should definitely end up in the Ubisoft coffers, because after all, The Crew: Motorfest, a third part, was only recently announced and should start this year.

The platforms for The Crew: Motorfest have already been determined: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC (Ubisoft Store, Epic Games Store) will be supplied. The title is also available via Ubisoft+ and appears for Amazon’s game streaming service Luna. The title once again takes you to a freely navigable game world, this time on the Hawaiian island of O’ahu.
