The trilogy of Batman directed by Christopher Nolan It is, for many, the best movie saga that the superhero genre has been able to give us. Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne, Heath Ledger’s Joker or Tom Hardy’s Bane are some of the characters we were able to meet in these adaptations that gave the London filmmaker so much prestige.
However the Dark Knight that we all know could be another very different person, although many of you will know him for also appearing in this saga so loved by many: Cillian Murphy
During an interview with Christopher Nolan in EW On the occasion of the premiere of Oppenheimer, the Irish actor told how enthusiastic he was at the meeting with the American director to talk about his role in Batman Begins. But unfortunately, Murphy’s role in this film was quite another, since the actor’s performance did not fit quite well with Bruce Wayne’s attitude. However, the director fell in love with the Irishman’s performance so much that he insisted to the producers that he have a relevant role in the film.
“When we had our first meeting, I think in the end we both knew that you weren’t going to end up playing Batman. We did two scenes and I made sure the executives came and saw what you were doing on set. Everyone was so excited to see you play than when I said, ‘Okay, Christian Bale is Batman, but what about Cillian playing Scarecrow?’ There was no disagreement.”
The Scarecrow He is a villain who is quite interesting in the comics, but it is true that Nolan did not know how to give him the value he deserves in Batman Begins and ended up relegated to the background. Even so, Nolan has known how to reward his favorite actor and, after several years giving him secondary roles, he has finally given him the opportunity to shine like never before on the big screen as one of the most important physicists of recent times: Robert Oppenheimer.
