Jager officially kicks off its first season Cycle: Frontier, the studio’s free extraction royale shooter. After two and a half hours of maintenance, the new season arrived earlier today.
Deploying the latest patch 1.2.0 of the game requires downtime. But that’s not all; as promised, the game’s first battle pass has also arrived.
Like most other live service games, The Cycle: Frontier’s Fortuna Pass consists of free and premium tiers. You can progress just by playing the game. If you want to unlock some special character and weapon skins, you can buy the pass for 950 Aurum (~$10).
In addition to all the cosmetics including the pass, you’ll also get XP boosters, salvage tokens, and even the paid currency Aurum.
The preseason for this game started earlier this month. Aside from some updates, balance tweaks, etc., players’ inventories will not be wiped at the start of Season 1. However, generic inventory wipes are part of the game, but the first ones likely won’t arrive until the end of the season.
To celebrate the new season, you can earn Twitch Drops by watching streamers play The Cycle: Frontier. It all starts tomorrow, June 23rd and runs until July 4th. There are certain restrictions as to which streams will offer drops, all outlined on the official blog.
The Cycle: Frontier is a sci-fi take on Escape from Tarkov, and it packs a ton of quality-of-life features that make it easy to use compared to the fierce and sluggish Russian shooter. It’s also free, and you can try it out for yourself on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
If this is the first time you’ve heard of Frontier specifically, you might think The Cycle’s name sounds familiar. That’s because Yager made a shooter of the same name that shares many of Frontier’s mechanics. While the game was successful, it wasn’t enough to support the team, so the developers decided to pivot.
