This summer, after years of rest, the saga will return Alien with a new movie that will surely give a lot to talk about. With just two previews, the public has already begun to get excited about this installment, mainly due to the practical effects used to bring the space creatures to life.
Its director has spoken about the same thing, Fede Alvarezwho through an interview with the British media Metro, has revealed the importance of these practical effects, far from digital. According to him, this is a mistake that both Marvel and DC Studios have made since almost their inception.
“The ideal is to deceive you, which is what I think the movies to a certain extent have stopped trying to do. Maybe because it’s a different thing, I don’t know, it’s not to go against the Marvel or DC movies, but I think they try be photorealistic. Nobody is trying to make you believe that the creature or whatever it is is there.”
Álvarez believes that special effects films used to provoke a reaction of surprise and spectacularity, but currently, that task is no longer the main one. The director wants to recover that virtue of special effects in a special way and has looked for the perfect workers and artists for it.
The new Alien movie hopes to be the rebirth of the saga in style, with a style that returns to the origins and under the approval of Ridley Scott, who has fallen in love with the film. Alien: Romulus will hit theaters around the world on August 16, 2024.
