Creator of the cult classic JRPG wild weapon and Heart of Shadow Teaming up for a double Kickstarter with two spiritual successors to the original title.
Earlier this week, the creators of the two JRPGs announced Kickstarter firsts, a double Kickstarter for both games; Armed Fantasiathe spiritual successor to the Wild Arms, and penny blood, and the spiritual successor of the Heart of Shadows. The campaign kicks off tomorrow, August 29, and seeks to raise $750,000.
Armed Fantasia is in development Wild Bunch Production, which, according to RPG Site, is made up of a number of key people involved in the work on the Wild Arms series. The game features “a dramatic story about a group of Pathfinders and their trusty ARM as they embark on a perilous journey through the vast Western punk world to destruction.”
You can check out the game’s website here, but you won’t see anything until August 30th.
Penny Blood in turn by snow wind, and itself features the main crew involved in the Shadow Heart series, which also has a website that hasn’t shown anything yet. It is “a dark horror story set in the shadow of the turbulent 1920s, about an investigator confronting a sinister threat at the height of international unrest”.
While the event isn’t live yet, you can choose which games to support, or both, and there will be a range of event rewards.
The Kickstarter trailer for Armed Fantasia is live, and it looks like it’ll contain some pretty classic JRPG, turn-based action, so there’s nothing unfamiliar to fans of the genre.
It should be noted that the $750,000 is unlikely to actually fund either game, it’s just a way to gauge interest in both. The cost of a game far exceeds the cost of development, so don’t use this as an example of how easy it is to fund a game.
