WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
The star wars franchise It has shown us that throughout its history there have been great Jedi capable of fighting the Dark Side without ending up giving in to power. Master Yoda has always represented the quintessential teacher, while Qui-Gon Jinn and Mace Windu demonstrated their excellence in his peculiar form. However, it is to Obi-Wan Kenobi whom we consider the perfect jedi knight.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was never perfect, but he was very balanced. He achieved the rank of Master at a young age and was the most powerful Sith Master to ever exist. The truth is that Obi-Wan Kenobi
Knowing all this, it is hard to think of a Obi-Wan Kenobi told him to break council rules or Jedi precepts… but he did. we see it in The Clone Wars and we could almost see it in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. His confrontation with General Grievous is one of the most shocking in the saga… but it could have been much worse.
Additional scenes from the film, which we can currently see on Disney+, show that the fight with General Grievous
The end of the fight is what really interests us. The original idea was that Obi-Wan Kenobi would not lose his lightsaber and that he would end up cutting off all of Grievous’s limbs, opening his metallic chest, take out his beating heart and the throw aside. Finally, she would pick up the blaster using the Force and it would shoot the heart. All a nod to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
George Lucas decided to discard this scene that could be the fatality of a Mortal Kombat because it could have been too much for the younger and because it wouldn’t really have been consistent with the balanced personality of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Taking too much pleasure in killing someone is more like a Sith.
