The works of Andrzej Sapkowski are not only adapted to the video game format or series for Netflix, but the adventures of Geralt of Rivia can be experienced from the point of view of a graphic novel. Thus, Dark Horse Comics y CD Projekt Red have been associated to shape a new project based on The Witcher franchise.
The Witcher: The Edge of the World is the story that will be released on December 18 and will show the adventures of the witcher extracted from the collection The Last Wish. Magdalena Salik is the scriptwriter of the work, Tommaso Bennato is in charge of the art, while Chris O’Halloran will provide the color and the letterer will be Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. The result will arrive through a large hardcover volume that already has a cover by Kai Carpenter.
The Edge of the World is one of the most notable and beloved stories to have emerged from the Polish author’s mind. That feeling among fans is shared by Salikm herself, who speaks with great affection about the story.
“The Edge of the World is one of my favorite Witcher stories. Why? Because of its diverse and counterintuitive characters. Everyone has some ideas about demons or fairies; say goodbye to them. In this story, Sapkowski plays with your established notions about heroes and villains; and also with plot twists.
For me, it is one of the wisest tales ever written, going far beyond the typical fantasy versions of this setting. There’s everything we love about The Witcher: jokes, quests, lots of action, compelling characters. But apart from that, there is also a strong message that leaves you entertained and reflecting. In other words, enjoy and expect the unexpected.”
For his part, Bennato has also celebrated the announcement, since “I love the fantasy genre” and assures that “I had fun drawing it.” The Witcher: The Edge of the World It will have a launch price of $17.99 and the synopsis is as follows:
“Geralt finds it difficult to get a job. And for his bard traveling companion, Jaskier, the crisis of the road is not a worthy subject for his rhymes or ballads. As they travel to the edge of the known world, the townspeople tell of many stories , but it seems that’s all they are (monster tales and superstition) until a man follows Geralt with news of a devil scavenging the local fields. Get rid of the beast, but under no circumstances should you kill it. “Can Geralt hunt the creature, when demons do not exist?”
