The Fallout series started yesterday and is receiving a lot of praise (quite rightly so, by the way). But Todd Howard doesn’t want to think about further series or films based on Bethesda games.
The Fallout series seems to be very well received by most viewers and critics and such success could of course arouse further desire, for example when it comes to filming other Bethesda games, especially the Elder Scrolls series.
When asked about this, Todd Howard commented on this at the premiere of the series in Los Angeles and gave a very clear rejection. “Everyone asks about Elder Scrolls, and I still say no,” Howard said. “You never know if it’s going to click for someone. I think this (fallout) really came from a belief that things were aligning in a way that we could do a quality job. It wasn’t forced.”
Howard continued, “I can’t predict the future, but this has been one of the most beautiful projects I’ve ever done and we’re just overjoyed, everyone in the studio, that it happened this way.”
So there is no Elder Scrolls film or series in sight, which would probably be a mammoth project that would be difficult to manage and that something like that doesn’t have to end well, as the rather flopped Lord of the Rine series has proven very impressively.
Apart from that, Howard, who was involved as a producer on the Fallout series, has enough to do anyway, as it was confirmed before the series started that there would be a second season of Fallout. Their filming will take place in California and will even be funded with state tax money.
Meanwhile, Fallout April continues merrily. The series is available in its entirety and Bethesda has announced several promotions for the series, including the release of the long-awaited next-gen upgrade for Fallout 4.
