Gaming News The Elder Scrolls Online Necrom: When Cosmic Horror Meets Morrowind and Skyrim!

Every year, The Elder Scrolls Online players are treated to their brand new expansion. In 2023 it will be called Necrom and everyone can enjoy it from June 5th on PC and Mac and from June 20th on other media, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series and Xbox One. A new chapter that seems to be full of very dark surprises…
For the occasion we could Exchange with Rich Lambert, the creative director of the saga The Elder Scrolls Online and who was not stingy with details. As I’m sure you understood, this chapter brings us back to Morrowind, fans will appreciate it and have the opportunity to talk about the Dark Elves and Hermaeus Mora, the Daedra Prince of Knowledge and Destiny. The atmosphere will therefore be dark and the universe full of mysteries that players will have to both discover and undoubtedly protect.. From here until you’re allied with Mora, it’s just one more step, as suggested by the cutscene you can already try above. You’ll notice how dark the tone is and shouldn’t displease us.
A brand new class, the Arcanist
This story revolves around Hermaeus Mora and aims to allow us to discover hidden, buried secrets, but also to explore the depths of Tamriel to perhaps learn more about the origins of the brand new class arriving with Necrom the Arcanist. Long requested by the community, The Arcanist will be an opportunity to play differently it seems. This class channels the powers of Aprocrypha (the city of knowledge) to exploit different and varied runes. The arcanist can also heal his allies, summon tentacles to block his opponents, use rune magic, or even take a lot of damage. A real Swiss army knife, with three specialties, Tome Herald (attack), Apocrypha Soldier (defense) and Healing Runes (support). The Arcanist will be able to transform a limb into a tentacle to strike mid-battle and even teleport through portals (and the same goes for exploration to reach hard-to-reach places). Finally, a chaining system is used to create specific combinations with abilities that generate points and others that consume them. This seems interesting to say the least as it is a first for TESO.
Two known and new areas at the same time…
We will advance on the Telvanni peninsula, the zone of origin of the dark elves, which we already know from Morrowind. But be careful, the region has changed a lot since then, even if we find these famous giant and dripping mushrooms. Necrom is the capital and that is where many dark elf families bury their dead. Suffice it to say that the atmosphere is festive and you’ll never really be alone in the dark corridors. We will also go to Apocrypha, the domain of Oblivion, and obviously it will look like we saw it in Skyrim (DLC Dragonborn) but with an atmosphere again much heavier and stranger. When we return to familiar places The developers insist that these areas also provide a sense of noveltya mix between the old and the new… We will see that very soon, without however specifying that Torvesard, a Drémora, will come to decorate the scenario, without being able to know if he is with us, against us , or even at war with Hermaeus Mora …
TESO Necrom has other spells up its sleeve
Introduced in 2021, companions are non-player characters that can accompany you anywhere during your adventure. They are by your side when you want them or, more precisely, when you need them. Two new companions are coming to enhance your adventures in Necrom Mission: Fast-as-Night, yes, that’s his name, is an Argonian (put simply: a humanoid lizard) in search of identity and you must prove your worth to him before he surrenders. Azandar, on the other hand, is a Redguard (understand a type of human), also Arcanist, who embodies a paternalistic figure with an inexhaustible thirst for knowledge. With its new dungeons, its new class, its two redesigned zones, its massive side quests, new events, Rich Lambert states that there are more than thirty hours of content in Necrom.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the preparatory content for this new chapter, Scribes of Fate will be available March 13th on PC and Mac, and March 27th on older and next-gen consoles. There you will find the prologue to the story of Necrom, as well as two dungeons. In this regard, there will be no new dungeons with the release of Necrom, since at the end of the year a novelty must arrive regarding these places so popular among players: it is a priori from a endless dungeon ! At least that’s exciting…
Like every year, TESO puts on a show and has to do better than last year. If Necrom still has everything to prove, it is clear that the atmosphere of thought, the locations known from other episodes of the saga, both of which have been reworked and offer new quests and stories, and the arrival of a versatile class should be enough to convince fans. See you in March and June to find out what Necrom really has in store for us!
