If there’s one anime that’s been making a big splash lately, it’s Demon Slayer. The fourth season of the animated adaptation of Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga ends with a grand finale, and the sequel promises to make it even grander. Fans will be pleased to know that it will ultimately be a big-screen adaptation, but not only that…

Warning spoilers:

This article contains several spoilers for the Demon Slayer anime.

It’s not 1, but 3!

Kimetsu no Yaiba aka Demon Slayer is quickly approaching its end. With the fourth season coming to an end with a grand finale featuring the entire main cast of the manga, fans are eagerly awaiting news on the continuation of the anime adaptation of the manga. With only 8 episodes airing on Crunchyroll, the Pillars Training Arc was very short and was also criticized by fans who complained about its slowness. But that was before the release of the last episode. With a duration of 40 minutes, it managed to reconnect with fans who were disappointed at the beginning of this season. Now, many are wondering when the continuation of the adventures of Tanjiro Kamado will be released. Several pieces of information pointed to a sequel, which would then be a feature film concluding the animated adaptation, but today it’s official: Demon Slayer will not be entitled to a single film, but to a trilogy!

The announcement comes directly from the official Crunchyroll account, which streams the latest episodes of Demon Slayer on its streaming platform. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment also announced the acquisition of worldwide distribution rights for the trilogy. Although no date has been announced yet, we know which story arc will be adapted in this film sequel, which will conclude the adaptation of the successful manga by Koyoharu Gotoge.

The home stretch for the pillars

The first film of this trilogy should immerse us in the arc of the infinite-dimensional fortress, which is none other than the hideout of the Twelve Demonic Moons and Kibutsuji Muzan. Obviously, the feature film bears the sober name Demon Slayer The Infinite Fortressit will take us right to where the last episode of this fourth season left us.

After their training, the Pillars are informed that their headquarters, the Ubuyashiki Estate, is under attack. In reality, Kibutsuji Muzan himself came to end Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s life. Upon their arrival, the Pillars discover that Kagaya sacrificed himself by blowing up the domain to weaken Muzan, and a terrible battle begins between the Rock Pillar, Gyomei Himejima, and the terrible demonic ruler. Until the moment when our protagonists are carried through the Infinite Fortress, where Kibutsuji Muzan wants to finish off the Demon Slayers once and for all. This trilogy will therefore cover the entire Final Battle arc, including various narrative threads. Ufotable, the studio responsible for the anime, will undoubtedly succeed in making this arc as spectacular as they already managed with the first film Demon Slayer: The Infinity Train.
