Will the semiconductor shortage finally ease, allowing more PS5 consoles to go on sale? This is rumored by a Taiwanese source specializing in the electronics and components field.
More PS5 camps in 2022 and early 2023
According to a new report from Taiwanese site Digitimes, which focuses specifically on news from the semiconductor and electronics sectors in general, the shortage of semiconductors is dwindling. Good news that should impact PS5 console shipments. In fact, that is what is said by the end of 2022 or even early 2023
Sony Interactive Entertainment has suffered badly from this crisis in recent months and missed its sales targets. Instead of delivering 14.8 million PS5 in fiscal year 2021, “only” 11.5 million were sold. Forecasts perhaps overly optimistic given the context.
Obviously, this lull will also benefit the Xbox Series X, despite being easier to buy. And then Microsoft has its Series S even more uncomplicated to manufacture.
18 million more PlayStation 5 by March 2023
This Digitimes report may correlate with Sony’s new projections. Until March 2023, wants the Japanese manufacturer sale 18 million PS5. With what ? Big and beautiful modules like God of War Ragnarök, FF16 or the PS VR 2, but also a new model of the PlayStation 5.
