The day after the announcement of Hideo Kojima and Xbox’s partnership for a cloud gaming game, the studio takes stock. Does this end the long relationship with PlayStation permanently? Death Stranding 2 in danger?
Hideo Kojima and his studio are hard at work on one exclusive to Xbox cloud gaming. A rumor by Jeff Grubb that was confirmed at the Xbox Bethesda conference. Was there a dispute between the Japanese creator and PlayStation? A completed divorce?
Hideo Kojima still works with PlayStation
Kojima Productions’ future Xbox exclusive doesn’t end the relationship between PlayStation and the father of MGS & Death Stranding. The studio took to Twitter to clarify all of this, and the message is clear: everything is fine between the two parties.
After we announced our partnership with Microsoft to leverage cloud technology, many people asked us about our collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment. Rest assured that we continue to have a very good relationship with PlayStation..
And for good reason, if we trust Norman Reedus’ words, Death Stranding 2 would be in development. A sequel that would be exclusive to PS5 and possibly PC (maybe a little later). YOU actually own the intellectual property.
And Overdose, where is he?
Hideo Kojima’s announcement was not followed by any pictures or videos, but a simple statement about it the “concept would be new”
Kojima Productions claims independence
In another tweet, Hideo Kojima’s studio recalled its independence and ambitions. Kojima Productions is owned by no one and will use its talents for creations other than video games. An anime, movies or music are areas where society wants to leave its mark. A second studio was opened in Los Angeles for this purpose.
As an independent creative studio, Kojima Productions will continue to work on creations for our fans. We will explore diverse possibilities with games, films and music on all platforms that evolve with time and technology. We continue to count on your support!
Certain platform specifics will therefore dictate projects. This is exactly what has happened with the Xbox cloud gaming that Hideo Kojima has long dreamed of. Microsoft invests more in this area than its competitor and has set up its own division. The aim is to form alliances with studios for the development of games exclusively for the cloud.
