Some things will not change even in this difficult year 2020. For example, that from the beginning of October the gingerbread will be in the supermarket. But also that many organizations collect donations for good causes in the run-up to Christmas.
The Europe commun ity of The Elder Scrolls Online has set up something special and broke her donation record
Most successful donation stream in ESO
The Arkay-Gilden are the largest Europe-speaking guild group in Elder Scrolls Online. The group organized the streaming event back in 2018 Arkays Charity Weekend in favor of the Children’s Cancer Aid, at that time a donation total of around 11,000 dollars was raised. In 2020 it was more than twice as much.
We feared a little that the willingness to donate would be lower this year due to the pandemic
, told us the organizer and guild leader Agrodin. But then we were completely overwhelmed by the success.
We spoke to Agrodin about social responsibility, challenges for guild leaders and why the Europe ESO community is a sleeping giant in a detailed interview:

How do you run a huge guild without going nuts?
The feedback from the audience and participants on the Charity Weekend was also great, according to Agrodin, both in the ESO-Forum as well as by message. One special personal thanks came from a cancer patient:
“Dear ESO community, thank you for this wonderful event and more than 23,500 dollars for the Children’s Cancer Foundation. Since I myself am affected by cancer, like many other players, too, the here in this wonderful game a distraction, friends or even a second Having found family, I would like to thank the Arkay guilds, the organizers, streamers, moderators, viewers and Bethesda Software. (…) Children and cancer – no, that’s one of the most unbearable ideas for me. “
This is how the donation event went: The Charity Weekend took place on December 12th and 13th, the most famous Europe ESO streamers delivered a colorful program: raffles, question and answer sessions, raids, dungeon runs and more. During the online event, viewers donated around 23,500 dollars – clearly breaking all previous ESO records. The community also donated 35 million gold (ESO’s in-game currency) to be raffled off.
Also involved developers: On top of that, ZeniMax Online donated prizes such as art books and also took part: Community Manager Kai Schober answered a round of questions with Elder Scrolls fans. And publisher Bethesda was so impressed by the success of the stream that they opened the donation pot again in their own Christmas stream.
Bethesda follows up with a Christmas campaign
On December 19, the official “Christmas MainStream” took place on the Europe Twitch-Kanal
“We planned and prepared the Christmas stream independently of the Arkays Charity Weekend. But we were so grateful for and impressed by the campaign that we wanted to contribute something.”
After the Bethesda stream, the donation account stood at 24,600 dollars, the ZeniMax again rounded up to 28,000 dollars. This entire sum goes to the Children’s Cancer Aid.
What is the Children’s Cancer Aid? The non-profit Europe Children’s Cancer Foundation has been campaigning for children with cancer and their families for 25 years. It offers information and advice for those affected, organizes holiday camps and supports those in need financially. The foundation is certified with the DZI donation seal. On the official website you can find all information.
Arkays Charity Weekend should take place next time in 2022, Organizer Agrodin deliberately wants to let some time pass. There should be no fatigue
he explains. And we want to be even more successful next time. The sleeping giant of the ESO community is awake.
