After Steve Rogers left “Avengers: Endgame” was in the new Disney+-Serie “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” John Walker (Wyatt Russell) introduced as the new Captain America. Episode 2 of the MCU show then led with Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) surprisingly a 3rd capwho completed numerous successful secret missions for the US government in the 1950s.

Isaiah Bradley tells Bucky and Sam that he was imprisoned for 30 years. What happened? In “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” story in the 1950s, the US government experimented on 300 black men with the goal of rediscovering the lost super soldier serum that once gave Bucky and Steve Rogers their powers.

But only 3 of the black “guinea pigs” survived the cruel procedure, which illustrates the entire racist misanthropy of the US government at the time.

Although the 3 then successfully mastered Black Ops missions, they never received the recognition of a Steve Rogers for this. The reason for this is not explicitly mentioned in “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier”, but it is obvious: the skin color of the 3 soldiers made the difference.

Out of frustration at this injustice, Isaiah Bradley then stole the Captain America suit for a suicide mission in the Korean War, on which he fought the Winter Soldier and Bucky probably also tore off his arm. Bradley surprisingly survived but was jailed for the theft for the 30 years mentioned.

Worst of all: In jail, the US government continued to experiment with Bradley, which also explains his desperate mental state in “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier”.

Because of this, nobody at the MCU knows anything about Isaiah Bradley. In the Marvel Comics, Steve Rogers finally ensures the long overdue recognition and appreciation of Bradley. In “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” this role could fall to Sam Wilson.
