Zelda has just announced a brand new game with a big surprise as a bonus. A true fan’s dream just came true.
In today’s Nintendo Direct, we had a totally crazy surprise waiting for us: a brand new Zelda game that, as a bonus, is every fan’s dream come true. Link will finally give up his place as a silent hero to the princess herself. Yes, you read that right, this time it is actually 100% a Zelda game.
For years, Link has rescued her from every possible and unimaginable situation, but this time she is the hero. Hyrule is threatened (again!) by the opening of strange faults that devour everything in their path, including our usual hero, little Link.
With the Zelda license, every fan’s dream finally comes true
We forget the formula of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom and travel back in time. Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom opts for a much more old-school approach with an art direction that leans more towards recent remakes, with an isometric view and an art direction that is close to the chibi diorama. It’s honestly great.
Zelda agrees, the princess will trade the swords and shields, a real tradition in the series, for a magic wand and a little colorful sidekick, Tri. Using magic, she will be able to take advantage of her environment by learning to create echoes of objects around her… a bed, a table, a rock, a block of water… whatever. This unique and completely new ability will allow Zelda to explore the vast universe that opens up to her, solving puzzles, overcoming traps and even occasionally fighting.
On many levels, Zelda Echoes of Wisdom promises to be grandiose and unprecedented. Fans are already overjoyed and you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on it Zelda Echoes of Wisdom will be released on September 26th for Nintendo Switch. There will also be a Switch Lite console in Hyrule colors. Note for collectors.
