The movie “Watch Dogs”, which has been off the radar for a while, is finally making headlines. And that inevitably increases the pressure among fans many times over. We tell you everything you need to know.
Good news for fans of the Watch Dogs series! The filming of the movie based on the Ubisoft video game has finally been completed after several years of chaotic development. Ubisoft announced this decisive step through its official Twitter account, accompanied by a photo of the technical team in action.
The Watch Dogs movie reaches a crucial milestone
However, no release date has been set yet and it could take some time before the Watch Dogs movie is ready, as the post-production phase can take several months or even years. The film adaptation of “Watch Dogs” was first announced in 2013with some enthusiasm. At the time, Zombieland and Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese were in charge of writing. However, over the years, the project underwent several changes, including the replacement of the screenwriters with French director Mathieu Turi and writer Christie LeBlanc. This overhaul of the creative team contributed to the delay of the project.
Even though Ubisoft seems to have put the Watch Dogs franchise on ice when it comes to video games, the publisher has big ambitions for this cinematic adaptation. The Watch Dogs film is being produced in collaboration with the production company New Regency, known for award-winning films such as 12 Years a Slave and The Revenant, but also for the disappointing adaptation of Assassin’s Creed in 2016. So good, but also not bad Good. It remains to be seen what this will bring.
Although filming has been completed, the future of the film remains uncertain in terms of its quality and reception. Adaptations of video games for the cinema often have a checkered past, even if we have also experienced some good surprises (Super Mario Bros. or Uncharted).
