The Gran Turismo film planned for this summer is still quite discreet. But new information and an unpublished picture are causing a stir.
Long shunned, video game adaptations are now on the rise. arcane 2021 on Netflix, The last of us Early in the year, or even the movie Super Mario Bros. are just some of the biggest commercial and critical successes to date to prove it. But today is the film adaptation of the franchise Grand touring what interests us. And for good reason, the film is finally talking about him again.
Impressive waterfalls in perspective
A few hours ago, the British monthly Empire Magazine exclusively published the first excerpt of an interview granted to him by Neil Blomkamp, director of Grand touring. The latter evokes his desire to make the film as authentic as possible. For this, leave the overabundance of special effects and the usual “cheating”. Here, “These are real actors, in real cars, on real racetracks, driving at breakneck speeds”. The feature film should therefore be visually very impressive. But the director doesn’t forget the rest and prom ises that the emotions will be there too.
The ideal for me was to do a video game adaptation with character work that would push the movie even more than the race. Even if the race is also damn intense.

What do we know about the film Grand touring ?
So we know the actors – and probably their stunt doubles too – were very involved. But involved in what exactly? At least the movie Grand touring is scheduled for August 9, 2023, and not that much is known about it. Nevertheless, we have some information. First, as we said, Neil Blomkamp is directing this adaptation produced by Columbia Pictures, PlayStation Productions, 2.0 Entertainment and Trigger Street Productions. On the casting page we find Archie Madekwe in the role of Jann Mardennorough. This is a real driver who has proven himself in competitions on Gran Turismo 5 before becoming a professional driver.
