Final Destination 6 is a reality. In an interview with the media Digital Spy on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the premiere of the first film in the saga, its creator, Jeffrey Reddick, has announced that the next film will be about a completely new sixth installment: «I've been talking to producer Craig Perry about it, and the concept behind this new movie is unique. I think reboot is too strong a word, it seems that it will change everything, but what it will be is a Final Destination movie«.
The new installment of Final Destination was announced in January 2019, hinting that it would be a restart of the saga after five deliveries full of deaths after repeated attempts to evade destiny. However, Craig mentions that in this sixth installment «trying to fit the pieces together so that take place in the world of emergency services: doctors, firefighters, police … These people deal with death on the front line every day, making decisions that can make people live or die«. In this way, "We rely on your good judgment, experience and calm demeanor. So why not put those people in the horrible situation where every choice can bring about life and death but for themselves?«.
The Final Destination saga has always been followed by a series of patterns: a premonition of the protagonist prevents a series of people from evading death at first, although later a series of traffic events takes their lives one by one. The producer of the saga explains that now «the medical world could be an interesting way to get into a Final Destination movie, and one that also can generate unique scenes in a very credible way«.
Much remains to be known about Final Destination 6, such as its roster of actors and characters, as well as a release date for theaters. The script for this new installment will be in charge of Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who have already worked together on up to four films in the also Saw horror saga.
