The Finals was surprisingly released during the Game Awards in December – and has since become an absolute success.
The people at Embark Studios could hardly have imagined the whole thing better: On the occasion of the Game Awards at the beginning of December, the free-to-play shooter The Finals was released without further notice – and the players thank the team in droves.
Just a few weeks after the surprising release, the title has now surpassed the crazy mark of ten million players. Detached from this considerable number of players, the success of the title can also be seen elsewhere: On the Xbox, The Finals has currently rushed past other greats such as Call of Duty: Warzone or Fortnite in the “Top Free Game” category.
Rob Runesson, the executive producer of The Finals, is of course equally enthusiastic: “We are simply touched and thrilled by the community’s reaction. We could never have dreamed of reaching ten million players so quickly. We will continue to develop the game improve and expand and ensure that there will be a lot of surprises for our community in the next few years.”
A first in-game event in keeping with the season started in the title at the beginning of this week. There are all sorts of Christmas-themed cosmetic items you can use to stroll through snowy Monaco. Furthermore, viewers on Twitch can also win Twitch Drops from all participating streamers. After the holidays, Season 1 will continue with new content.
