The hype shooter The Finals is getting fresh content this week, as the new Season 2 is just around the corner. We’ll tell you here what awaits you here.
Later this week, from March 14th, Season 2 starts in the successful shooter The Finals. The game show has been infiltrated by the renegade hacker collective CNS and the showrunners are desperately trying to decipher their cryptic messages.
As part of this topic, you can expect all sorts of new content in the free-to-play shooter. There are new weapons for every class, the hacked new karty called SYS$HORIZON and a completely new 5v5 game mode with “Power Shift”. There’s also a skill-based league system, weekly career progression rewards, private matches and more on board. The private matches are initially available in a beta version.
All of this is topped off by the new hacker game style, in which you can slip into the role of CNS. You have a number of new gadgets and a new specialization to choose from, which can be combined with the existing weapons. You can remove walls, defy gravity or dig through the arena and transform objects. In short: you can become a glitch in the system and develop into a cyber tactician.
According to official information, the following innovations await you as part of the new game style:
- The Dematerializer for Mediums – A specialization that temporarily obliterates physical surfaces such as walls, ceilings, or goo, allowing candidates to see, shoot, and traverse them. Players create new passages and close them again – turning any obstacle into an open door.
- The Anti-gravity cube for Heavies – A deployable cube that manipulates gravity in its immediate surroundings and lifts participants and objects upwards. Is it a tool for overcoming obstacles? Or a means of defense? That depends on each individual participant.
- The Gateway for Lights – A pair of ready-to-use portals with limited range. When both are thrown and activated, participants and objects can move between the two locations. Anyone can use a portal, but players cannot see them or shoot through them. Perfect for a quick escape when things get tough.
- The Data Reshaper for Mediums: a gadget that turns enemy fortifications (or any object) into something completely different – for example, an enemy mine into a chair. Or an enemy turret into a table. Great for breaking through enemy defenses.
All builds will receive new weapons: the Lights will receive the 93R burst-fire submachine gun, the Mediums will receive the new FAMAS assault rifle, and the Heavys will receive the new KS-23 shotgun. The new map mentioned is a neon-filled cityscape that exists in the loading area of the game show and is intended to offer a mix of vertical and horizontal gameplay.
The “Power Shift” mode lets two teams of 5 fight to escort a platform through the arena. If you are interrupted by an opposing team, the platform will come to a standstill or even change direction completely. The platform carries everything with it and can be thrown out of balance by physical forces.
