Casting for the live-action version of “Until Dawn” has begun, and several newcomers have joined the project.
While it seems like a slightly odd choice overall, back in January Supermassive Games announced that they were going to make a live-action adaptation of Until Dawn, which is exactly what’s going on in Hollywood right now. What’s odd isn’t that it’s a video game adaptation, but that Until Dawn is a game with so many different endings and paths to the ending that it wasn’t quite clear that it would be a movie. However, the film is still going ahead with the production, as Deadline reported earlier this week that the film has completed its first round of casting, with four actors already cast for the project, which is being directed by David F. Sandberg (Shazam!).

The cast includes Ella Rubin (The Thoughts of You), Michael Cimino (Love, Victor), Ji-young Yoo (Sweet Home), and Odessa Azzion (Hellraiser 2022), all of whom you may have seen somewhere but haven’t become stars/household names yet. “At PlayStation Productions, we’re always looking for creative and authentic ways to adapt our favorite games for our fans to enjoy,” said Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, in a statement. “In addition to Screen Gems, we’ve assembled an amazing cast of new characters to build on our already amazing filmmaking team and their vision for the adaptation. We’re excited to reveal more about the film soon.”
While the Until Dawn movie doesn’t yet have a release date, if you’ve been looking for an excuse to revisit the original, you might have to wait a little longer. At last month’s PlayStation State of Play, a new trailer for the Until Dawn remake was revealed, confirming that the horror game will be coming to PS5 and PC this fall. The remake also doesn’t have a firm release date, but it will be released before the movie, so stay tuned.
