As we all know, pictures say more than a thousand words. In this case there are only two of them, but they are definitely impressive.
Im Detail: These are two screenshots in 4K resolution from the Swedish development studio Liquid Swords at X (formerly Twitter) posted.
They show a big city that could also come from a GTA part, as you can see below. The makers emphasize, howeverthat the game should not be a competition to GTA 6.
What we particularly like about the two screenshots is the high level of detail, the stylish lighting and the realistic look that was chosen.
Who is Liquid Swords?
- Liquid Swords itself is still a blank slate, but that doesn’t apply to founder Christofer Sundberg. He has been working as a game developer for a long time and is best known for the games in the Just Cause series.
- While Avalanche Studios used a self-developed engine for titles like Just Cause, Mad Max and Rage 2, Liquid Studios’ first game is being built in Unreal Engine 5.
- According to their own statements in the FAQ on the official website It should be an open-world title with a focus on the narrative or its
Triple-A revenge story
act:
We’re working on our first game; a narrative-driven, open-world, hardboiled AAA revenge story, built and developed in Unreal Engine 5.
Neither a name nor a release date is known yet. So it will probably be a few years before the title shown in the pictures above appears.
GTA is not the model

This is GTA 6! The first trailer shows Vice City in new splendor and the release
Compared to GTA 6, whose first trailer you can watch again above, the game world of the Liquid Swords title seems significantly less bright and colorful.
But even if the first two images of the game without a name still clearly remind you of GTA and the description above could definitely fit a game in the series, Liquid Studios at X clearly emphasize that they want to make a different kind of game:
We have no plans to compete with GTA or make a game like GTA.
You can find out what we want from the latest part of the GTA series, which is scheduled to appear next year (at least on the current consoles), in the following video podcast:

GTA 6 has to do THAT better!
Different sizes
It would also be more than ambitious for Liquid Swords to want to compete with GTA 6. After all, this is nothing less than the world’s most anticipated game currently in development.
Also to be emphasized: While Rockstar Games has several thousand employees worldwide, Liquid Studios only has around 100, according to their website.
The two newly published screenshots still make us want more. Let us know in the comments if you feel the same way.
