God of War Ragnarok welcomes its first update in 2024. A small patch that fixes several issues with the base game and the Valhalla DLC.
More than a year after its release, God of War Ragnarok caused a surprise with the Valhalla expansion. A completely free, rogue-lite style DLC that combines the return of Kratos with the old games. A clear success that relies primarily on replayability and difficulty. This inevitably requires some compensation after publication. Santa Monica continues to refine the experience with new updates. The first of the year has just been deployed, here’s what’s changing.
The God of War Ragnarok 2024 update is here
The first GOW Ragnarok update of the year was released on the evening of January 17, 2024. An update that imposes significantly less than the stature of its protagonist and is primarily concerned with fixing various bugs, in addition to revising the calculation of scores when players take risks in the Valhalla DLC. Now those who choose a more dangerous approach without dying will receive a higher score as a reward for their efforts. For the rest, this Patch 05.04 of God of War Ragnarok fixes bugs of all kinds that affect both the gameplay of the base game and the DLC, the New Game+ mode, improving the general healing effects or even fixing rule problems related to the Lost Loot chest.
This God of War Ragnarok update 05.04 also fixes some issues that could cause game crashes, which could cause part of Mimir and Sigrun’s story to disappear, and improves the overall stability of the expansion and the main campaign. A small patch that you can’t sink your teeth into, but we can only welcome the successor from Santa Monica. Some of the team should continue to focus on improving God of War Ragnarok and Valhalla, but we suspect the majority of the team is already focused on the sequel. Another should be dedicated to the new license that Cory Barlog and his comrades have been cooking up in secret. However, we’ll have to wait to find out what they have in store for us.
