The rumors are true! Xbox is resuming its developer head-to-head showcases, with the first of 2024 going live later this month, on January 18th. The company announced the news today with a short blog post that helps outline all the games we can expect to see at the show. exhibit.
Developer Direct is basically the Xbox version of Sony’s State of Play and Nintendo Direct. The moniker was introduced last year and given the event’s record to date, big things were to be expected. With games like MachineGames’ Raiders of the Lost Ark, Avowed, Ara: History Untold, and Senua’s Sacrifice II on display, those expectations appear to be coming true.

Microsoft also seems to like the January placement of these Directs. Last January, the first Xbox Developer Direct brought us news about first-party Xbox Game Studios projects, as well as updates from the teams at Bethesda and Zenimax.This is also a demonstration of the excellent performance of Hi-Fi Rush and has been announced, so here’s hoping Xbox has a similar surprise for us during this week’s reveal.
The show will be live on the Xbox YouTube and Twitch channels at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm UK. If you’re a fan of The Elder Scrolls Online, there will also be a dedicated live stream for the game launching immediately afterwards at 1pm PT / 4pm ET / 9pm UK.
As for what we can actually expect from this developer face-to-face, the announcement states that Raiders of the Lost Ark will get “over 10 minutes of gameplay and developer insights, including details on the game’s lore and story, as well as how fans will play as Indy.” . Avowed is delving into its gameplay, and so is Ara: History Untold. Finally, “Sena’s Sacrifice II” will have a behind-the-scenes look at the Cambridge Studio. All in all, it was a jam-packed show.
