Various factors may cause PS5 to be restricted in the first year of launch.
According to the latest report from Bloomberg, Sony plans to reduce production PS5 Compared with PS4, the sales of game consoles in the first year have increased.
Although the production capacity is not affected, the interruption caused by the corona virus pandemic and the expected higher prices of game consoles may result in lower demand. People familiar with Sony's supply chain say they expect to produce 50 to 6 million units by March 2021 (the current fiscal year). In contrast, Sony sold 7.5 million units in the first six months of the PS4.
Full production is scheduled to start in June, but the global travel ban and blockade have caused unforeseen problems in other regions. For example, the report stated that the company ’s board of directors could not meet in person to decide certain details. Sony's hardware engineers were also unable to fly to the assembly plant to supervise the process.
Bloomberg has previously reported that due to the high-end features of certain components and their scarcity, Sony is working hard to price the PS5. The pandemic certainly did not help.
Another reason Sony plans to expose the game console is the destruction of the corona virus. The company may no longer be able to hold physical events to release PS5. Some people familiar with these plans also said that last week ’s DualSense controller display was the last minute because Sony did not want to risk any leaks.
The report pointed out that some of these plans may change with the development of the coronavirus pandemic, including PS5 production.
