Paying homage to the great classic action games of the 90’s, Vengeful Guardian Moonrider finds its release date with an explosive gameplay trailer.

The Arcade Crew, publishers of independent games (Young Souls, The Last Spell…) and division of Dotemu (Streets of Rage 4, TMNT Shredder’s Revenge), is about to release a new neo-retro title: Vengeful Guardian moonrider.

A release date for Vengeful Guardian Moonrider

The arcade crew will once again please retrogaming fans with an action-platformer, Vengeful Guardian Moonrider, which has a foothold in both the 90’s and our time. The player embodies a cyborg ninja with destructive talents, Moonrider. Modification chips allow us to customize the style of play.

This ultimate cybernetic fighter turns against his creators and defies his original goal, to quench a thirst for vengeance as sharp as his blade. Discover the futuristic tools at his disposal to clean up this greedy and libertarian mega-corporation. These powers will help him quench his thirst for vengeance against numerous and vast odds responsible for the oppression that is suffocating what remains of humanity.

A production with beautiful pixel art and very stimulating music as before. Danilo Dias, co-founder of JoyMasher (the development studio) and artistic director, speaks best about it:

From the use of ’90s audio recording techniques to the color palette that would be perfectly at home on Mega Drive, we wanted every aspect of Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider to be a faithful and emphatic homage to the era of the games’ founders that inspired us to create our own. The clarity of the great action platformer classics is a major influence on current game design, and Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider is a perfect example of this. Here’s our own take on the best of retro experiences, doing it’s own way of showing how a historic offering can still evolve today.

Vengeful Guardian Moonrider will be released on January 12, 2023 on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Amazon Luna.
