The Callisto protocol has been hit by major problems since its launch and is now trying to rectify the situation with a series of updates on consoles and PC. What does it change?
Launching The Callisto Protocol hasn’t been easy for the teams at Striking Distance Studios. Faced with numerous problems, the first patches were deployed.
Still Disastrous on PC?
If we didn’t encounter any major issues during our testing on PS5, other than maybe a crash or two during the ten hours we spent playing the game, we can’t say that all is going well for the other platforms. .
The Callisto Protocol is not playable on PC and is therefore being destroyed by players. Negative feedback confirmed by further analysis by Digital Foundry, which is not delicate on this version, and rightly so. The site reports that even with a large configuration and the lowest settings, the problems are there and does not recommend playing it on PC. Specifically concerns about stuttering, stuttering that saps framerate.
This weekend, the studio released a first update on PC with the aim of eliminating the stuttering. However, the teams also point out that the phenomenon could persist in the game’s menu at launch. Of “New Optimizations” are also on the way.
Unfortunately, that wouldn’t change much. In response to the first tweet, one gamer claims that with a 3080 and graphics settings hovering close to “Medium”, the stuttering is far from gone. Another person with a 6700XT says it’s much better, but a third, also with the same card, sees no change. In summary, things still seem very complicated for The Callisto Protocol on PC.
The Callisto protocol gets patches on consoles
Striking Distance Studios also announces that it has released patches on consoles to improve framerate and crashing issues reported by players. More patches should also be available in the coming hours.
Regarding the lack of RT reflections on the Xbox Series X version, it’s again just a launch issue, but it will eventually work out. When ? Good question !
