New blow for The Last of Us license and this time it’s the video games that are affected. In particular, the Factions multiplayer game.
As you may have noticed, the last PlayStation Showcase wasn’t as phenomenal as expected. Xbox is also having a great time by trolling its competitor and competitor with a tweet shortly after the end of the show. In fact, this showcase was severely lacking in big PlayStation exclusives.
However, the Japanese company had touted this livestream as the start of “Phase 2” of its PS5. So we were expecting big exclusives, just like The Last of Us Factions. Naughty Dog’s game should also bring us news later this year. A promise that we take from Neil Druckmann himself. Except here ELEPHANT factions
Because of this, The Last of Us Factions was not featured at the PlayStation Showcase
The backlash of this PlayStation Showcase is pretty harsh. Jim Ryan had to speak up to explain himself, Insomniac had to reassure his fans about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and the lack of a date and now it’s Naughty Dog putting out a little press release. A brief intervention also aimed at reassuring the fans. Not really. In fact, more information has now reached the ears of journalists who are often well-informed, such as Jason Schreir (Bloomberg). He claims that the teams of The last of us factions would have been greatly reduced and that the game is currently even being “re-rated”. When Bloomberg wanted to solicit comments from the studio, Naughty Dog preferred to issue a press release.
Naughty Dog wants to reassure fans
A message addressed to his community, confirming that something is happening at the studio. Although the reasons are not explicitly stated, it is said that The Last of Us Factions would be delayed. “As development progressed, we realized that the best thing for the game is to give it more time,” the studio explains in its post. Although the game didn’t have a release date yet, it now seems to be disappearing into a complete fog.
Taking into account Jason Schreier’s feedback, we can say that it smells like fir for the long-awaited multiplayer game.
Note, however, that for its part, Naughty Dog is not talking about a reduction in the development team or a re-evaluation. The studio prefers to calm down, even mentioning the development of its next big solo game, which is obviously going well.
The license has been a mess lately.
Actually, it is to be believed that the entire license is cursed. Lately, she’s been mixing bad news and hard hitting. On the series page is season 2 of The last of us delayed due to the writers’ strike sweeping Hollywood. But it will see the light of day and Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie) will re-sign for the future. Then we also have the PC port of The last of us part 1, but excellent on PS5, which is just recovering from its disastrous and unclear launch (cable). And now it’s the next big game in the franchise that’s in turmoil. All that remains is for the idea of The Last of Us Part 3 to finally be thrown in the trash, leaving fans with only their eyes to cry.
Come on, let’s not lose hope, everything will be fine!
