The verdict from the public is clear: the Fallout series of Amazon Prime Video It is one of the best adaptations of a video game ever made and the trio of protagonists are unforgettable. Ella Purnell, Aaron Clifton Moten and Walton Goggins capitalize on the eight episodes of the production that takes us to the apocalyptic Wasteland.

It is Goggins’s character that draws the most attention in the visual section, since we find above all a ghoul known as The Ghoul. Formerly called Cooper Howard, this bounty hunter has roamed the world for two centuries and stands out for his brutal combat skills, although it is impossible not to notice his appearance.

We spoke to the only person who logs into Steam from Antarctica. He is from Argentina and plays at 27 degrees below zero

With a reddish skin tone, no hair, with the flesh closer to rotting and, especially, without a nose, the makeup that the production team has achieved with an outstanding result. Goggins has praised the work of those in charge of putting all the prosthetics on his face in The Wrap.

“What we came to was that we wanted it to be attractive so that the public would not feel repulsed by this horrible disfigurement. We wanted them to come up and look at his face. Once we decided, Vincent Van Dyk designed some very fine, but very long-lasting, so that I was still under there and I could still experience my own facial reactions and they could pick up on all of that.

However, this arduous work also meant that the interpreter had to suffer marathon makeup sessions by Jake Garber, special effects artist. Initially it took five hours to show it as The Ghoul and they finally managed to reduce the process to one hour and 45 minutes, all in a practical way. Only his nose was CGI removed.

I couldn’t close my eyes. He had to sit in one place all the time. So I would put on a Western movie and do my research,” explains Goggins, who watched Westerns like The Gunslinger, Until His Time Came and Two Men and a Fate to get into the role. That time waiting to be ready for Filming helped him feel closer to who Cooper Howard was.

“It’s terrifying to watch. It’s really creepy and they did a great job with the prosthetics to make it look alien in some ways and yet still humanly disturbing and I think that’s what really makes it so scary.”
